TII releases Falcon models for Emirati Arabic, speech and Arabic documents

In October 2026 the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), part of Abu Dhabi's Advanced Technology Research Council, released three new Falcon models aimed at Arabic.

What was announced

  • Falcon-Emirati is a 7 billion parameter model for the Emirati dialect. It scored 84.83% on the Alyah benchmark.
  • Falcon-ASR, with 1.6 billion parameters, transcribes Emirati Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
  • Falcon-OCR-Arabic extracts text and tables from documents.
  • Licensing terms were not stated in the report.

Our take

Gulf customers speak in dialect, and a lot of business still runs on scanned Arabic documents. Models built for both are useful for customer service and document workflows. As always, we'd test them on real data before relying on a benchmark score.
