The problem
Damage disputes are one of the most common frictions in car rental. A scratch appears on return, the customer says it was already there, and the paper check sheet from pickup doesn't settle it. Either the company absorbs the cost or the customer leaves unhappy.
How it works
The car is photographed at pickup and again at return. Computer vision compares the two sets of photos and picks out damage that wasn't there before, such as new scratches and dents, and records it against that car and that rental. Instead of a debate, both sides see the same before-and-after evidence.
